New Year, New Skater Clinic

Season 6 Smiling

The Cornfed Derby Dames are hard at work planning and training for their sixth season. But it’s not too late to join the league before the bouting season begins in February of 2016. The team will hold the final New Skater Clinic of the preseason on Sunday, January 10, from 6 to 8 p.m at Gibson Arena.

The clinic is open to women 18 years and older interested in skating and women and men looking to become referees. No previous skating experience is necessary, our experienced coaching staff will spend the two hour clinic teaching the basic skating skills of roller derby. The following gear is required at the clinic: quad roller skates, mouth guard, helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards, and knee pads. Many of the required gear is available to borrow for the clinic through Cornfed.

Worried that you don’t have enough time to play roller derby? CFDD has a newly created “B Team” with reduced attendance requirements to fit better with busy schedules. The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to make resolutions to get healthy, stay active in your community, and make new friends. Joining the Cornfed Derby Dames is the perfect way to keep all of those resolutions.

The clinic is just $5 to attend and does not require any long-term league commitment. Come, skate, and see for yourself if 2016 is the year you start playing roller derby. If you would like to attend the clinic or have any additional questions contact cfddrecruitment@gmail.com.
