Cornfed Derby Dames End Second Season

That’s a wrap on CFDD season #2! Our final home bout was a challenging nail-biter against the South Bend Roller Girls that had us playing against our former teammate, Alotta Pushie. In the end, CFDD lost the hard fought battle with a final score of 78-121. The dames finish their season with a winning record of 5-3.

Season two for the dames turned out to be just as exciting as the first. We have been accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Apprentice Program that has the league working hard to improve skater skills, organization of the league, and increasing the number of skaters, as well as, fans. CFDD is proud to have supported local charities throughout the season including Kate’s Kart, ARF, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Care Package Project, Muncie Mission, the Muncie Family YMCA, and the Salvation Army.

CFDD has also made their presence known throughout the community by participating in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, ArtsWalk, Walk-a-Mile, Cornerstone Carnival, IPR’s All Beers Considered, Rib Fest and many other great events in Delaware County.

After a short break in November, the dames will return to the track to plan season three with the hopes of completing the WFTDA Apprentice Program and graduating into full membership status. The community can expect to see CFDD playing tougher teams, pursuing a new bout venue, searching for a head coach, and continuing to contribute to the Muncie community.

Finally, we would like to thank all of the support we receive to make this league possible. We would be nothing without the referees, non-skating officials, fans, coaching staff, friends & family and countless volunteers that give us their time and support. You are what make the Cornfed Derby Dames great. We can’t wait to make you proud of us in our third season!
